Trade unions in Romania, including the National Trade Union Confederation 'Cartel ALFA' and other confederations, are protesting today at Cotroceni, demanding the involvement of the Presidency in mediating the social conflict with the Government. They emphasize the rapid deterioration of working and living conditions for millions of citizens. The demonstration, scheduled for December 18, 2025, will call for the initiation of mediation procedures according to the Constitution and an official dialogue between the President, the Government, and the trade unions. Among the priority demands are the increase of the minimum wage and the protection of purchasing power. The protest takes place in the absence of President Nicușor Dan, who is attending a European Council meeting in Brussels, where important topics such as the situation in Ukraine and European security are being discussed.
