The Constanța Tribunal has decided that Radu Cristian, the suspended mayor of the municipality of Mangalia, will remain in preventive detention for another 30 days, and the decision is final. The court rejected his appeal against a previous ruling, obliging him to pay 500 lei in court costs. Cristian Radu is accused of several offenses, including bribery and money laundering, being suspected of having received over 600,000 euros between 2022 and 2025 for issuing urban planning documents favorable to certain individuals. DNA prosecutors are requesting the confiscation of over two million lei, an amount considered to have been obtained illegally. Radu was placed in preventive detention at the end of August, and the next day he was suspended from his position as mayor.
