The Constanța Tribunal decided to maintain the preventive arrest measure for Cristian Radu, the suspended mayor of the municipality of Mangalia, accused of bribery and money laundering. The ruling, pronounced on Monday, is not final and can be contested within 48 hours. Radu was sent to trial by DNA prosecutors in December 2025, being suspected of having received over 600,000 euros between 2022 and 2025 to issue urban planning documents and initiate local council decisions favorable to certain individuals.
Additionally, prosecutors requested the confiscation of over two million lei, considering that this money was not obtained legally. Cristian Radu was placed in preventive arrest at the end of August, and the next day he was suspended from his position as mayor.
