The President of the Sanitas Federation, Iulian Pope, declared on Tuesday that the strike in the healthcare system will continue "in principle" on Wednesday, after discussions with the Ministry of Health regarding the salary law.
The SANITAS leader stated that the discussions at the Ministry of Health did not lead to clear conclusions and that several aspects regarding the salary of medical staff remain under analysis. He argued that there continues to be a risk of income losses for employees and that a significant number of employees could remain on "transitional sums." According to him, the meeting had a technical character, without the participation of the Minister of Health, so no final decisions were made and there are no guarantees that the unions' demands will be resolved.
Pope called on political parties for a government with full powers to negotiate and resolve issues in the healthcare system.
The general strike was initiated as a protest against the salary law project, but emergencies and complex cases will be ensured during the protest.
