Representatives of the Bucharest Municipality (PMB) declared that the insolvency procedure of the Bucharest Transport Company (STB) will not lead to the cessation of public transport or a reduction in the number of buses, trolleybuses, and trams.

The general mayor, Ciprian Ciucu, explained that the purpose of the insolvency is to ensure the continuity of public transport service, a legal obligation for local authorities.

The procedure will involve the appointment of a judicial administrator who will develop a reorganization plan to reduce expenses and save the company.

PMB subsidies will be used to pay salaries, fuel, and spare parts, and an escrow account will be created to manage receivables.

The mayor emphasized that the reorganization plan will include streamlining STB routes without abolishing tram lines.
