After the Goretti storm, the sky in Birmingham took on a spectacular shade of pink, surprising the residents of the West Midlands region. Images shared on social media show how the phenomenon was visible both in the city center and in the town of Hednesford.

The layer of clouds and snowfall contributed to the reflection of light, and the LED lights from the Birmingham City stadium were identified as a major source of illumination. Hednesford Town Club mentioned that a similar phenomenon had been observed before, also caused by the LED lights used to maintain the pitch. The Goretti storm is the first storm of 2026 to affect the UK, generating red and yellow weather warnings for severe conditions.
