The simple motion initiated by the senators of PACE and AUR, which targeted the Mercosur Agreement, was rejected by the Senate, recording 38 votes 'for', 52 'against' and 25 abstentions. During the debates, the sovereigntists brought bananas with pink ribbons, symbolizing USR, while senator Ninel Peia attempted to expel the present deputies. Minister Oana Țoiu was not present, being on a work visit to London.

The Government's position was supported by the Minister of Economy, Irineu Darău, and Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan criticized the signatories of the motion for spreading distrust. The motion was initiated to highlight the Government's deficiencies in managing the agreement, accusing it of sidestepping parliamentary debate.
