The 'Sf. Maria' Hospital in Iași will resume the disinfection of the water supply and will only admit major emergencies, after the detection of the Pseudomonas aeruginosa bacteria.

Representatives of the 'Sf. Maria' Emergency Clinical Hospital for Children in Iași announced the resumption of the disinfection procedure of the water network on the night of December 13-14, 2025, followed by the collection of new samples to verify the effectiveness of the intervention. In collaboration with ApaVital, the concentration of chlorine in the urban network will be increased. The hospital will only admit major emergencies, and patients will be transferred to other healthcare facilities after emergency medical assistance.

Contamination with Pseudomonas aeruginosa was identified in water samples, and the residual chlorine concentration was below normal limits. The hospital already disinfected the water network on November 28, but recent results highlighted non-compliances. Following these issues, patients and staff will benefit from bottled water, and for cleaning, water from external sources will be used. The Minister of Health has been informed about the situation and visited the hospital to assess the measures taken.
