On December 2, the Senate tacitly adopted a bill that introduces fines between 5,000 and 20,000 lei for individuals who display disrespectful, provocative, intimidating, or aggressive behavior towards employees of public institutions. The bill, initiated by 36 UDMR parliamentarians and representatives of national minorities, amends Law 61/1991, aiming to protect employees and maintain a civilized environment. Additionally, Law 544/2001 is amended, imposing strict rules for those requesting public information, including adherence to working hours. Non-compliance with these rules may lead to the eviction of individuals from the building. The bill will be sent to the Chamber of Deputies for the final vote, where the balance between protecting employees and citizens' freedom of expression will also be discussed.
