The Senate has adopted a bill that offers a paid day off, upon request, to women with endometriosis, considered as work seniority.

The Romanian Senate adopted, on Monday, a bill that allows women diagnosed with endometriosis to benefit from a paid day off, upon request, during their menstrual period. The bill was voted with 77 "for" votes, 34 "against" and 4 abstentions. The days off will be considered as work seniority and will be covered by the employer, who will receive a partial compensation from the budget of the National Health Insurance Fund.

An adopted amendment allows employees with endometriosis to request a paid day off monthly, based on the recommendation of a specialist doctor. The bill was supported by parliamentarians from various parties, including AUR, POT and PSD.
