The Senate has adopted a bill that establishes October 29 as Queen Maria's Day, thus marking her contribution to national identity.

Although the opinion of the Economic and Social Council was favorable, some parties criticized the initiative due to the costs in the context of the budget deficit. The project will be sent to the Chamber of Deputies for a final decision.
