Daniel David, former Minister of Education, announced that the scholarship fund for students proposed for 2026 will be approximately 1.5 billion lei, coming from the state budget and supplemented with 60 million euros from European funds. He emphasized that these European resources do not replace but complement the state budget.

Daniel David explained that the evolution of the scholarship fund was 0.9 billion lei in 2023, increasing to 1.5 billion lei in 2024 and maintaining the same value in 2025, with changes in eligibility criteria. The estimate for 2026 is based on Law 141/2025, which was purely fiscal, and the fund will have to be fully assumed from the state budget starting in 2027. Additionally, David mentioned the approval of the National Program for Reducing University Dropout, which benefits from government and European support.
