The Secretary of State in the Ministry of Energy, Cristian Bușoi, stated that group 4 at the Rovinari coal-fired power plant will resume operations to reduce energy imports, in the context of increased consumption and high temperatures. Almost 300 megawatts will enter the National Energy System, contributing to supply security.
Bușoi mentioned that the weekend was stable from an energy perspective, with consumption below 6,000 megawatts. Wind production was good, but photovoltaic energy cannot cover demand during peak hours.
He also emphasized that coal stocks are sufficient for this week.
Regarding unit 2 at Cernavodă, Bușoi warned that drought and low Danube flow keep the unit closed.
Bușoi mentioned that large energy consumers are looking for solutions to reduce consumption during peak hours, and data indicates a decrease in consumption compared to initial estimates.
