According to the latest edition of the Henley Passport Index, the Romanian passport ranks 11th in the world in terms of travel freedom, providing visa-free access to 178 countries, just two fewer than the United States passport.

The ranking evaluates passports based on the number of destinations accessible without a visa, using data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA). Romania's position has significantly evolved over the years, having its lowest ranking in 2006, when it was in 34th place. Last year, Romania was in 15th place.

Currently, Singapore holds the top position, with visa-free access to 193 countries, followed by Japan, South Korea, the United Arab Emirates, and Sweden.
