The Romanian Orthodox Church has approved the introduction of three new saints and two holidays in the calendar, as well as the canonization of 16 Romanian women.

During the meeting on September 29-30, 2025, the Holy Synod of the Romanian Orthodox Church decided to introduce three saints: Dionysius Vatopedin (May 11), Petronius of Prodromu (February 24), and Nicholas Velimirovici (March 18). Additionally, two new feasts were established: the Veneration of the Icon of the Mother of God from Craiova (August 30) and the Veneration of the Icon of the Mother of God from the Monastery of Dintr-un Lemn (July 21). The Synod also approved the icons and liturgical texts for the 16 Romanians canonized in July 2025.
