The Minister of Labor, Florin Manole, announced the approval of a government decision to increase the minimum wage in Romania, which will be raised from 4,050 lei to 4,325 lei starting July 1. This measure, supported by the PSD, aims to assist those who work honestly and fairly. Manole emphasized that the increase will bring an additional 700 million lei to the state budget, due to the higher taxes generated by the increased wages.
In parallel, the PSD is preparing to review the budget project in Parliament, where it intends to propose amendments to include support measures for low-income pensioners and other vulnerable categories. Although there are grievances within the coalition, the social democrats still propose to collaborate with other parties to adopt these amendments. Grindeanu, the president of the PSD, mentioned that it is essential for the budget to be adopted with the support of parliamentarians, despite the obstacles encountered in negotiations.
