The Government of Romania has approved a memorandum aimed at negotiating and signing an agreement with the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, with the goal of building, modernizing, and maintaining the transport infrastructure between the localities of Pașcani (Romania) and Tărășeni (Ukraine).
The agreement establishes the legal framework necessary for the coordinated implementation of several important road projects, including the Pașcani – Suceava Highway and the Suceava – Siret Express Road. These investments are part of the strategic corridor Tărășeni – Siret – Moțca – Ungheni – Berești, a priority route for connectivity between the European Union and Eastern partners.
The agreement defines the responsibilities of the parties regarding the financing and execution of the works, including on the territory of Ukraine. A Joint Commission will also be formed to coordinate the implementation of the projects, in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2025/1106, which establishes the European SAFE Program.
This agreement will facilitate institutional cooperation and ensure the interoperability of transport infrastructure.
