The radar surveillance systems of the Romanian Army identified a group of objects in Ukrainian airspace, heading towards the port of Chilia, located near the national border of Romania. The Ministry of Defense announced that, following standard safety procedures, the National Military Command Center alerted the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU) RO-Alert, recommending them to take protective measures.
The air alert status was maintained for approximately 30 minutes, being officially lifted at 09:53, after the threat had moved away. Representatives of the Ministry of National Defense confirmed that no unauthorized incursions into Romanian airspace were reported and that there were no cases of impact with the ground of aircraft debris. The Romanian Army continues to monitor the situation and collaborates with NATO allied structures to provide real-time information about potential attacks. The situation at the river border remains under strict surveillance, considering the persistent Russian attacks on Ukraine.
