After a night of panic, the residents of the village of Ceatalchioi, Tulcea County, have been authorized to return home, after 231 people were evacuated due to a fire on board a ship loaded with LPG, which was on the Danube. The incident was caused by a Russian drone that struck the ship in the port of Ismail. Authorities intervened quickly, evacuating the population and ensuring that people were transported to improvised shelters. After continuous intervention, the danger was assessed as low for Ceatalchioi, but remains high for the neighboring locality of Plauru, where the flames on board the ship continue to burn. Ukrainian authorities have brought in a large-capacity vessel to limit the effects of the fire. The Romanian Ministry of Internal Affairs has provided transportation and necessary support for the safe return of the evacuees.
