Protest on DN1: Residents of a commune are demanding the construction of a roundabout and the reconstruction of a pedestrian overpass, citing crossing risks.

On Saturday, dozens of residents from the commune of Bănești, Prahova County, organized a demonstration on National Road 1, demanding safety measures for crossing it. Locals complain that every exit from the locality towards Ploiești or Brașov puts their lives in danger, facing difficulties in crossing the heavily trafficked road. The protesters are calling for the establishment of a roundabout and the restoration of a pedestrian overpass, considering the statistics from the Police which show that in the last 3 years there have been 4 traffic accidents in the area, resulting in one death and 3 injuries. Authorities have confirmed that a project for the establishment of a roundabout is in the process of implementation, and the pedestrian overpass will be put back into operation after replacing some components for pedestrian safety.
