Starting from August 29, the municipalities in Romania are suspending their activities indefinitely, in reaction to the package of fiscal measures adopted by the Bolojan Government. The National Union of Municipalities and Cities in Romania (SCOR) accuses that these measures will lead to the dismantling of municipalities, imposing staff reductions and maintaining personal assistants at their expense. Additionally, the introduction of the 'half public servant' is criticized, considered a form of political cleansing, affecting the officials who ensure legality in local administration.
