The ceremony will also honor the Romanian Patriarchate for its role in strengthening national spirituality. Bartholomew I is an influential figure in the Christian world, known for his ecumenical initiatives and for environmental protection, being dubbed the 'Green Patriarch.' The event coincides with the centenary of the elevation of the Romanian Orthodox Church to the rank of Patriarchate and takes place a day after the consecration of the interior painting of the National Cathedral, officiated by Bartholomew I and Patriarch Daniel.
