On October 27, the President of Romania, Nicușor Dan, will decorate His Holiness Bartholomew I, the Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople, in an official ceremony at the Cotroceni Palace, scheduled for 6:00 PM. This distinction recognizes the Patriarch's contribution to promoting inter-Orthodox dialogue and the support given to the Romanian Orthodox Church. The ceremony will also honor the Romanian Patriarchate for its role in strengthening national spirituality. Bartholomew I is an influential figure in the Christian world, known for his ecumenical initiatives and for environmental protection, being dubbed the 'Green Patriarch.' The event coincides with the centenary of the elevation of the Romanian Orthodox Church to the rank of Patriarchate and takes place a day after the consecration of the interior painting of the National Cathedral, officiated by Bartholomew I and Patriarch Daniel.
