The mayor of Olteni, Teleorman, investigated by DNA for a damage of over 22 million lei

Violeta Cătălina Ionescu, the mayor of the Olteni commune in Teleorman, is being investigated by the DNA for two counts of abuse of office, while Adriana-Cornelia Dima, a municipal inspector, is accused of complicity. Prosecutors have established that the mayor did not comply with legal duties regarding the granting of social aid, causing damage to the state budget of over 2 million lei. On December 4, 2025, searches took place at several locations, including the mayor's residence, where large sums of money were found. Violeta Cătălina Ionescu is under judicial control and cannot exercise the function of mayor, being required to comply with certain legal conditions.
