On Tuesday, at 2:00 PM, Nicușor Dan will receive Darryl Nirenberg, the new ambassador of the United States to Romania, on the occasion of the presentation of the letters of accreditation, a moment that marks the official beginning of his mandate. Nirenberg was nominated by Donald Trump in June 2025 and confirmed by the U.S. Senate in December 2025. The U.S. Embassy in Bucharest congratulated the new ambassador, highlighting expectations regarding his contribution to strengthening relations between Romania and the U.S., including in the military and economic fields. With 40 years of experience in foreign policy, Nirenberg was a partner at a prestigious law firm and has expertise in managing legislative issues. He takes over the position from Kathleen Kavalec, who left the post in May 2025.
