The new provisions in the 2025 Road Code impose severe penalties for parking vehicles on green spaces, considered an offense. Authorities aim to protect urban natural areas, where parking on lawns and tree alignments has become a major problem. In Bucharest and Ilfov, fines range from 1,000 to 1,500 lei, and for heavy vehicles, they can reach up to 2,500 lei. Other cities, such as Suceava, apply similar penalties.

The rules are not limited to green spaces; parking on sidewalks or bike lanes attracts fines of up to 1,215 lei. Additionally, stopping in prohibited areas can lead to penalties imposed by the Traffic Police. Authorities can tow illegally parked vehicles, and owners must pay fees for recovery. From November 2025, penalties will be even higher, aiming to protect the urban environment and promote responsible behavior among drivers.
