The future metro stations on the Gara de Nord - Gara Progresul section, part of the extension of Line M4, will benefit from protective panels at the edge of the platforms, aimed at increasing the safety of passengers and preventing accidents. This extension, which includes 14 new stations, represents the largest ongoing local public investment in Romania. The general director of Metrorex, Mariana Miclăuș, emphasized that the company's objective is to protect passengers and enhance comfort in the new stations.

The project was approved in a government meeting, and Metrorex is analyzing funding sources for the implementation of these safety solutions. Additionally, a pilot project was tested in 2022 at the Berceni station to assess the effectiveness of the protective panels.
