After the closure of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at the 'Sfânta Maria' Hospital in Iași, the pressure on the 'Marie Curie' Hospital in Bucharest has significantly increased, with all 27 beds occupied and 10 patients waiting. Doctor Cătălin Cârstoveanu emphasized that the lack of beds at the national level destabilizes the system and that reopening the unit in Iași is essential to ensure proper care for newborns. Although an expansion of capacity is anticipated through a PNRR project, the actual need for beds is much greater.
