The Ministry of Internal Affairs has reported a fake news story circulating online, claiming that authorities are seeking total control of mobility under the pretext of improving road safety. MAI officials stated that this information is false and that the topic has been periodically revisited over the last two years. The ministry urged citizens to inform themselves from official sources, emphasizing that road safety is a priority.

Recently, Minister Cătălin Predoiu announced the expansion of the 'E-Sigur' System, which will collect images from traffic monitoring cameras, mentioning that it is not a 'Big Brother' type system, but a protection tool. MAI explained that a legal framework will regulate the use of images for identifying violations, and local cameras must be approved before being connected to the national system.
