The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) has issued a warning for Romanian citizens who are in or traveling to Japan, following a 7.4 magnitude earthquake off the Sanriku Coast. Japanese authorities have issued a tsunami warning for the provinces of Hokkaido, Iwate, and Aomori.
The MFA recommends that Romanian citizens avoid traveling to these areas and follow the instructions of local authorities. Romanian citizens can request consular assistance at the phone numbers of the Romanian Embassy in Japan, with calls being redirected to the Contact and Support Center for Romanian Citizens Abroad (CCSCRS).
In case of emergency, a phone number for the diplomatic mission is also available. The MFA encourages consulting official websites and using the 'Travel Informed' application for useful information regarding travel.
