The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) has issued a travel warning for Japan, following a strong earthquake of 7.6 on the Richter scale that occurred on Monday. Japanese authorities, through the Meteorological Agency, warn that there is a possibility of another high-intensity earthquake in the next seven days, especially on the Pacific coast, from Hokkaido to Chiba.
MAE recommends that Romanian citizens avoid traveling to the affected coastal areas and follow the instructions of local authorities. Following the earthquake, at least 30 people have been injured, and tsunami waves of 70 cm have been reported. Romanian citizens can request consular assistance at the Romanian Embassy in Tokyo, and additional information is available on the official MAE websites.
