The Minister of the Environment, Diana Buzoianu, vehemently expressed her dissatisfaction with the vote cast by AUR, PSD, PNL, and UDMR for a law that, according to her statements, allows the destruction of protected areas in Romania. Buzoianu emphasized that, despite the speeches about environmental protection, these parties acted against the forests, favoring economic interests to the detriment of public health. The adopted law requires the modification of the boundaries of protected areas within 60 days and excludes projects decided by CSAT from complying with environmental standards. The minister highlighted the importance of forests as a "national treasure" and criticized the political class for complicity in the massive deforestation of recent decades. She stated that environmental protection laws do not hinder efficient projects, but only those inefficient ones that no longer produce energy due to decreasing water flows. Buzoianu called the new law a "shame" and promised that she would continue to fight for the protection of forests, considering the responsibility towards future generations.
