Following the tragic explosion in the Rahova neighborhood, the Romanian authorities, through the voice of the Minister of Energy, Bogdan Ivan, are considering legislative changes to prevent the recurrence of such incidents.
Ivan stated that he will analyze the final report of the investigation, which will clarify responsibilities and any legislative gaps.
He emphasized that operators in the energy sector must comply with clear obligations and that non-compliance will be severely sanctioned.
The Minister mentioned that Romania has an outdated energy infrastructure, with over 60% of the electrical networks being over 65 years old, which requires periodic audits.
Ivan highlighted the importance of regular checks, similar to those for gas emissions in households, to prevent damages.
He also stated that if it is found that the current legislation is too permissive, it will be strengthened so that operators comply with strict rules, similar to those applied in Germany.
In conclusion, Ivan emphasized that ANRE is the only competent authority in issuing permits and overseeing companies in the field.
