The Local Council of Sector 1 approved, on Thursday, a payment agreement with Romprest for the rescheduling of outstanding debts of 56 million lei, from a total amount of 194 million lei. The agreement, which must be accepted by Romprest by July 15, 2026, provides for payment in installments without penalties. Former mayor Clotilde Armand criticized this agreement, accusing it of being an attempt to hide a "huge hole in the budget."
The current mayor, George Tuță, emphasized that the debt has increased due to previous non-payments and that the agreement would prevent the accumulation of penalties. Romprest has obtained enforcement titles for unpaid invoices, and the City Hall has already paid significant amounts. Additionally, the City Hall has concluded a contract with Blue Planet SA for sanitation services, but this is suspended until the resolution of the dispute with Romprest. Currently, Romprest continues to provide sanitation services in Sector 1, based on the 2008 contract.
