Diana Buzoianu, the interim Minister of the Environment, made a working visit to the Leșu Dam in Bihor County, where rehabilitation works funded by the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) have been completed.
The reservoir, which has not functioned normally for almost 12 years, is now in the process of controlled refilling.
Buzoianu emphasized the importance of this investment of over 113 million lei for the hydrotechnical safety of the region, mentioning that the project integrates environmental protection solutions, including a fish passage and floating islands for biodiversity. The works included the modernization of equipment and monitoring systems, allowing for more efficient management of water resources. Additionally, the Sălard polder was also completed, another strategic investment for reducing flood risks, valued at over 22 million lei, which includes the digitalization of water level monitoring.
These projects contribute to fulfilling Romania's commitments in the field of water management.
