On March 16, 2026, in Brussels, the European Center for Economic Security, Technology and Resilience (ECESTR) was officially launched, an initiative of the Aspen Institute Romania, which celebrates 20 years of activity. The Center aims to respond to challenges related to economic security and resilience, according to the European Commission's Strategy.

The activities of ECESTR target critical industries, such as telecommunications, energy, and cybersecurity, analyzing the impact of new technologies on national and European security.

Roxana Mînzatu, Executive Vice-President of the European Commission, emphasized the importance of these transformations for society. The mission of the center is to ensure coherence between EU and NATO decisions and the actions of member states. The Advisory Council of ECESTR includes renowned international experts, such as Mircea Geoană and Paolo Gentiloni, who contribute to the development of the center's initiatives. At the launch conference, an analysis of the transition from 5G technology to 6G was presented, highlighting the use of artificial intelligence.
