During a meeting with the unions, the Minister of Energy, Bogdan Ivan, confirmed that the Ișalnița Power Plant, part of the Oltenia Energy Complex, will cease operations on January 1, 2026. The proposals from union leaders, including keeping the group in conservation, were rejected. The President of the Craiova Energy Union, Gelu Ionescu, expressed his dissatisfaction with the decision, mentioning that employees with fixed-term contracts will be laid off, while those with indefinite contracts will be redistributed to other power plants, such as Turceni and Rovinari. The closure of the power plant will have a significant impact on the staff and the local community.
