The Infectious Diseases and Psychiatry Hospital in Baia Mare has been equipped with modern equipment and materials to reduce the risk of nosocomial infections, through a project funded by PNRR, worth 3.4 million lei. Oana Chiorean, project manager from the Maramureș County Council, highlighted the challenges encountered in implementing the project, which complies with ECAST standards for antibiograms. The hospital's laboratory has been equipped with state-of-the-art equipment that allows for rapid and efficient analyses, thus reducing the diagnostic time.

The head of the laboratory, Mihaela Sabău, mentioned that this equipment contributes to reducing the use of antibiotics and ensuring safer treatments for patients. The project also included the installation of air conditioning, air purification, and disinfection systems, as well as equipment for monitoring the sterilization of instruments. The Infectious Diseases Hospital in Baia Mare is the only specialized unit in the county and provides essential medical services to patients.
