Work on the new hygiene unit at the Galați Pneumophthisiology Hospital (TB Hospital) is well underway. The investment, funded by the Galați County Council and estimated at RON 5.2 million, has reached an important stage, with contractors beginning to install the exterior wall structure.
Costel Fotea, president of the Galați County Council, announced that a large part of the interior drywall partitions has been completed. The teams are currently working on installing the electrical networks and ductwork for the ventilation and air-conditioning systems.
At the same time, exterior work on the water and sewage networks is continuing at the site. The new building will have a usable area of approximately 300 square metres, spread across a basement and ground floor, and will serve the entire hygiene cycle for the linen used in the hospital.
The unit will include an energy-efficient technical area, spaces for washing, disinfecting, ironing, storing and distributing clean laundry, as well as changing rooms and restrooms. The investment aims to streamline workflows and improve hygiene conditions.
The estimated construction period is 26 months, meaning the work is expected to be completed in the first half of 2028.
