In a TV show, Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan revealed that austerity measures have generated an impact of 4-5 billion lei annually on Education, due to the reduction of positions and scholarships. Although the number of scholarships has increased 25 times in three years, reaching 62% of students receiving scholarships, Bolojan emphasized that this is not financially sustainable. In 2020, scholarship expenses reached almost one billion euros, and the Prime Minister acknowledged that such expenses cannot be sustained without budget surpluses.
