Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan announced the intensification of controls on operators exploiting mineral aggregates from riverbeds, as well as the tightening of legislation to eliminate abuses and protect natural resources.

The Ministry of Environment, Waters and Forests has already increased controls in this area and will launch new thematic controls for gravel pits. In a working meeting, Bolojan requested the modification of legislation through an accelerated timeline, considering the proposals from the Ministry of Environment. Among the measures discussed are limiting the duration of licenses for fishery arrangements and introducing strict mechanisms for verifying compliance with contractual obligations. Additionally, the Radarul Balastierelor platform and the Inspectorul Balastierelor website will be used to implement control measures.

The analysis from the Ministry of Environment showed that, in the last 10 years, over 1,200 permits for fish ponds have been issued, but less than 10% have been completed.

The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of collaboration between institutions to intensify on-site controls and protect natural resources.
