The Romanian government has approved a development program for Băneasa Airport, which includes a new terminal and the modernization of infrastructure to increase capacity.

The strategic development program for Bucharest Băneasa International Airport aims to modernize the infrastructure between 2025-2035, including the construction of a new terminal with a capacity of 800 passengers per hour. Departure and arrival flows will be reorganized, runways and lighting systems will be modernized, and the infrastructure will be adapted for Schengen and non-Schengen traffic. The project will comply with legislation and will include environmental protection measures, being declared of public utility.
