The flow of the Danube at the entrance to the country, in the Baziaș section, will be relatively stable at a value of 1400 m3/s on Friday and Saturday, followed by a slight decrease to 1300 m3/s on August 21, below the multiannual average of 3900 m3/s, according to the National Institute of Hydrology and Water Management. Downstream of the Iron Gates, the flows will be stable, except for the first days of the interval from August 14 to 21, when a slight decrease is expected in the Giurgiu - Tulcea sector.

This situation has led to the shutdown of the two reactors at the Cernavodă Nuclear Power Plant, which provided approximately 20% of the dispatchable energy. The Ministry of Energy has assured that the National Electric Power System has sufficient resources to compensate for the production deficit, including wind and hydro production. Authorities have called for responsible energy consumption, especially between the hours of 7:00 PM and 11:00 PM, to reduce pressure on the energy system during peak consumption times.
