The electric train is being developed by Astra Vagoane, in collaboration with Chinese manufacturer Qingdao Sifang, and is in the process of almost finalized certification. It can reach a maximum speed of 160 km/h and meets safety and comfort standards. The certification and authorization process is 80-90% complete. The Romanian Railway Authority has launched the tender for the purchase of 40 regional electric trains, with the contract worth up to 4.5 billion lei.
