Since 2008, CNCD has not been able to judge cases of wage discrimination, but EU Directive 2023/970 will change this, imposing wage transparency. This will require employers, both in the public sector and in the private sector, to communicate information about salaries and compensation packages, starting from January 1, 2026. The directive aims at equal pay between men and women and also applies in the recruitment process. Romania must transpose this directive by June 7, 2026.
