The commissioners of the National Environmental Guard conducted a national action against fish poaching, removing over 6 kilometers of illegally placed fishing nets and confiscating hundreds of kilograms of fish transported without documents of origin. Following the inspections carried out in the last two weeks, fines of 180,000 lei were imposed and several criminal complaints were filed.
The action involved 30 commissioners, the Traffic Police, and the Gendarmerie, being carried out in high-risk areas such as Olt, Danube, Danube Delta, and the Black Sea coast. Over 2,400 vehicles were checked, and the results were alarming, including monofilament nets and illegal tools.
Marius Niță, deputy general commissioner of the National Environmental Guard, emphasized the importance of protecting biodiversity and announced the continuation of inspections to deter illegal activities. Additionally, 150 kilograms of fish were released into the natural environment, and the vehicles involved in illegal transport were seized.
