The Elie Wiesel National Institute for the Study of the Holocaust in Romania reacted to the statements of the PSD, which announced that it would notify the National Council for Combating Discrimination and the Prosecutor's Office regarding a campaign it considers 'of Nazi origin' against its members. Florin Roman, the institute's representative, emphasized that the Holocaust should not be used in political discussions, stating that such comparisons minimize the historical tragedy.

The PSD accused that it is the target of a coordinated defamation campaign, using dehumanization techniques similar to those during the Nazi regime. The party requested the sanctioning of these behaviors, considering them a violation of the legislation on combating discrimination.

Additionally, the PSD emphasized that the free expression of political beliefs is a fundamental right, and aggressive campaigns that induce disgust are unacceptable. It is mentioned that the attacks would have been carried out through memes generated by artificial intelligence, comparing PSD leaders to rats.
