The partial elections for the position of general mayor of Bucharest will take place on December 7, according to the government's decision, after the Bucharest Court of Appeal rejected a complaint that requested the annulment of the government resolutions. The complaint was filed by lawyer Cătălin Dima, who argued that the government acted hastily due to a poll showing that 50% of Romanians want changes in the political class. The judges deemed the request unfounded, and the decision can be challenged within five days. Dima criticized the current governing coalition, claiming that the quick elections are meant to prevent the emergence of new candidates who can compete effectively. He requested the court to verify the legality of the resolutions issued by the government.
