The Minister of Finance, Alexandru Nazare, stated that the process of disinflation in Romania will begin in August-September, according to the previously announced plan. Although the initial estimates were affected by the international context, the direction of decreasing inflation is maintained, with an adjustment of the inflation rate from 4% to 5-6%. Nazare emphasized that, despite this revision, the disinflation process will continue, having a positive impact on private consumption in the second half of the year.

The decrease in inflation is expected to be felt especially in the third and fourth quarters, as the comparison base returns to levels similar to those of the previous year. This trend will contribute to the revival of private consumption, but it is conditioned by the confirmation of the continuous decrease in inflation, which remains an essential factor for the purchasing power of the population.
