On Sunday, the Cathedral of the Salvation of the Nation, the largest Orthodox church in the world, is consecrated, marking its official opening for the faithful. The event is attended by officials such as the President of Moldova, Maia Sandu, and the President of Romania, Nicușor Dan, along with other political and religious leaders.
The ceremony includes the consecration of the painting by Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew I and Patriarch Daniel, surrounded by a synod made up of 65 hierarchs and 70 priests.
The cathedral, built over the last 15 years, cost over 200 million euros, being a symbol of national and spiritual rebirth. The building is notable for its height of 127 meters and for architectural details inspired by Brâncovenesc and Byzantine styles. Its painting, made in mosaic technique, covers 25,000 square meters, and entry is through 27 bronze doors.
