The Competition Council has announced that it is analyzing the transaction through which the Pavăl brothers, the owners of Dedeman, intend to acquire Carrefour Romania through Pavăl Holding SRL. The competition authority will evaluate the impact on the markets for consumer goods, both from the perspective of acquisitions and retail sales. The analysis will take into account the accessibility areas around hypermarkets and proximity stores.
The transaction is part of a strategic review process initiated by Carrefour, which previously denied selling the business in Romania. Dragoș Pavăl emphasized the importance of Carrefour's business model and its impact on local products. The completion of the transaction depends on the approvals of the competent authorities, and it is expected to be finalized in the second semester of 2026.
